Courses

The courses will be given on the first day (May 8, 2023) of the EMR Conference. They will open when ten or more participants are enrolled. Each course is limited to a maximum of fifteen participants.

The workshop introduces explainable AI (XAI) methods to build predictive models and extract knowledge, combining theory with hands-on examples such as mortality prediction for COVID or heart disease classification. It follows material from Explanatory Model Analysis using R and the DALEX library.

The sessions span exploratory data analysis, model building (decision trees, random forests, hyperparameter tuning), local explanations (SHAP, break-down, LIME), and global explanations (permutation importance, partial dependence).
